Kindness

I was looking for something to write notes with, and found one of the pencils we got for kiddo’s bday party goodie bags. I was so excited to put them in the bags because they have messages on them like “you are loved”, “you are awesome” “you are kind”. It felt so wholesome. I just want to put more good in the world. It’s so easy to feel down about the lack of empathy in a lot of places lately. But also so easy to brighten someone’s day.

So that’s where I’m at today. Tired from a bad night of sleep but focusing on the good things. So here are 3 good things:

  1. Kiddo was very sweet to a younger kid on her walk to school and included her in playing
  2. I was able to run two miles fairly easily
  3. Pete and I had some laughs while watching Taskmaster at lunch

And speaking of sleep, one of the many open tabs I have is an article about cognitive shuffling. What you do when you have insomnia is name as many words as you can think of that start with a certain letter. When you’re done, move on to the next letter. It’s supposed to take your mind off things so you can fall asleep. I’ll have to remember to try it next time.
